The key is going to be this little potentiometer.
Its resistance changes when you turn the knob. So, if we connect it to the lock, then we can read a voltage off it. You see the vision, right? You see where I'm going with this? [ __ ] that light. Instead, we're going to use a microcontroller to read the voltage. Also, I still need that light. And 100 lines of code and some hot glue later, it's done. and looks super good.
